Earthquake Mockdrill
Baylling Central School organized mock drill on 21st September,2022 to join hands with nation on preventing and mitigating risks from
natural calamities, mainly - Earthquake. From geographical point of view, earthquake is a shaking of earth’s surface due to tectonic
plate movement.The mock drill was conducted to minimize the vulnerability of getting massacred by the unforeseen disaster
beforehand, especially after an earthquake.
With the school administration’s support, the mock drilling commenced right after the classes got over.Students and teachers of
different academic blocks were allocated with different evacuation routes heading towards the football field- identified as
“safe zone”.There the mock drill focal person-Principal collected the attendance reports from respective classes and made
immediate instructions to the “Search and Rescue” team to mark the absentees and search for them.
For boarding students, mock drilling was conducted once again during the night to prevent risks arising at their respective
dwellings.All the boarding students evacuated towards the basketball playfield on blowing of second warning siren.There, the same
procedures were followed and the drilling concluded with sharing of some positive and negative feedbacks by the disaster
focal person of school.
Winding up of such drillings showered upon the students and teachers with immense experiences and knowledges.One becomes much
accustomed to long aware of yet never expected natural calamities and disasters.Such drillings provokes a sense of awareness
and shoves an individual out of pandemonium and chaos during real disasters.From these, one can save oneself from the
risks of getting massacred or injured.
